Carbondale – On 08-27-2023 at 1:55 a.m., City of Carbondale police officers stopped a vehicle for a registration violation in the 700 block of South Wall Street. The driver, Chrishon A. Sawyer 18 years old of Carbondale, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. Officers arrested Sawyer and subsequently located a firearm in the vehicle. Three juveniles ages 15, 16, and 17 were also in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. The juveniles were arrested for Curfew Violations and released to their guardians. Sawyer was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Driving While License Suspended. He was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail. The investigation is active and ongoing.
