Carbondale – On June 18th, 2023 at 3:19 a.m., City of Carbondale police officers investigated a shooting incident that occurred in the 1500 and 1600 blocks of East Main Street. As a result of the initial investigation, Dejuon D. Baltimore, 23 of Champaign, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm. Officers also arrested Levar D. Woods, 25 of Carbondale on June 21st for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm. Both men were incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.
Since the initial investigation, detectives have continued to investigate related weapons offenses relating to this case. With the help of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, the following arrests have been made:
On July 7th, 2023 Immanuel Salley, 21 of Carbondale, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail. On July 11th, 2023 Immanuel Salley was additionally charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.
On July 11th, 2023 the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jahmai Salley, 24 of Carbondale for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm. He was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.
On July 11th, 2023 Carbondale police officers arrested Shalisha Massie, 40 of Carbondale, on a Jackson County Failure to Appear warrant for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Massie posted the required bail and was released pending court.
On July 14th, 2023 Fairleigh Ward, 21 of Carbondale, was arrested for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm. Ward was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.
Thus far in this investigation, a total of eight illegally possessed firearms have been seized including one rifle. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Carbondale – On 06-18-23 at 3:19 a.m. City of Carbondale police officers responded to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for two people arriving in a vehicle with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. There were multiple bullet holes in the vehicle the men arrived in. The investigation revealed that the men at the hospital were involved in a shooting incident with an individual or individuals in a second vehicle in the 1500 and 1600 blocks of East Main Street resulting in the injuries. Officers recovered a firearm and spent shell casings from inside the vehicle the injured men drove to the hospital. One of the injured men, Dejuon D. Baltimore, 23 of Champaign, was arrested for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail after he was medically treated. The other occupant was treated by medical staff and released without charges.
During the course of the investigation, officers were able to identify the other vehicle involved in the shooting. On 06-18-21 at 1:58 p.m. officers located the vehicle travelling on South Wall Street and conducted a traffic stop. The occupant of the Jeep, Levar D. Woods, 25 of Carbondale, was uninjured but was found to be in possession of two firearms. Woods was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail. The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
