Fouth of July Fireworks 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale and Southern Illinois University Carbondale are excited to announce the return of the annual fireworks display on the SIU campus! The event will take place on Tuesday, July 4, at 9:15 p.m.

For the best viewing, spectators are advised to park in Banterra Center parking lots 18 and 56. Overflow parking will be directed to lot 89, north of the Banterra Center. It is recommended to arrive early, as the main parking lots are usually full and closed by 9 p.m.

While waiting for the fireworks to begin, enjoy an array of delicious treats from our fantastic vendors, including the iconic American Ice Cream Truck, Bake Me Happy Food Co with their delightful bubble tea and treats, and Tropical Sno's ultimate delight of shaved ice.

Please refer to the SIU parking map at https://parking.siu.edu/_common/files/fy22-rules-and-regs-map.pdf for more information. Road closures will start at 6 p.m., including parking lots 37 and 52. Cars must be cleared from these areas by 6 p.m. Douglas Drive and Saluki Drive will be closed from Evergreen to Lincoln, and from Douglas to Arena Drive, until after the fireworks display.

Parking along Route 51 or other roadways for viewing purposes is prohibited.

In the event of rain, the fireworks display will be postponed to Wednesday, July 5, at 9:15 p.m.
