Planning Commission - The Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals is responsible for promoting the Comprehensive Plan, recommending to the Council amendment changes, supplements or repeals to the zoning ordinance, and other matters related to development in Carbondale and more.

Preservation Commission- The Preservation Commission is responsible for investigating and recommending to the City Council the adoption of ordinances designating certain properties as preservation and historic districts and reviewing applications for properties under construction or demolition that reside within designated historic districts.

Liquor Advisory Board - The Liquor Advisory Board is responsible for reviewing all liquor license applications, meeting with applicants to discuss liquor licenses, and more.

Human Relations Commission - The Human Relations Commission advises the City Council on problems among individuals and groups within the community regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, marital status, familial status, sexual orientation, national origin or ancestry, or economic or educational status.
Personnel Board - The Personnel Board is responsible for receiving appeals submitted by City employees, compiling a written statement of facts, findings and recommendations to the City Manager for each appeal, and making recommendations for revised employee rules and regulations.
