CARBONDALE – On 12/11/22 at 2:19 a.m., Carbondale Police Officers were in the 200 block of West Main Street monitoring a large crowd at bar closing when they observed a fight break out. As officers attempted to stop the fight, they observed a subject with a handgun. Officers identified the suspect who fired the gunshot during the apprehension of Travis Wooley. The suspect is identified as Ternell P. Albritton, 37 of Carbondale. On 12/16/22 officers obtained an arrest warrant for Albritton for Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.
On 12-20-22 at 1:41 p.m. officers located Albritton in the 500 block of East Willow Street and arrested him on the arrest warrant. Officers also charged Albritton with Driving While License Suspended because officers observed him driving prior to his arrest. Albritton was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail. The investigation continues to be active and on-going.

On 12/11/22 at 2:19 a.m., Carbondale Police Officers were in the 200 block of West Main Street monitoring a large crowd at bar closing when they saw a fight break out. As officers moved through the crowd to stop the fight, they observed Travis L. Wooley, 36 of Carbondale, armed with a firearm. Wooley fled from officers but was quickly captured after a brief foot chase. While officers were taking Wooley into custody, several shots were fired from the area where the fight originally occurred. Other officers arrived in the area but the suspects weren’t located. Officers arrested Wooley for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon by a Felon and Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer. Iesha R. Carter, 28 of Carbondale, was also arrested for Obstructing Justice and Resisting a Peace Officer after she repeatedly interfered with officers’ attempts to arrest Wooley. Wooley and Carter were incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail. There were no injuries or property damage found as a result of the shots fired. The investigation into the incident is active and on-going.
