CARBONDALE – On 10/28/22 at 3:49 p.m. City of Carbondale police officers responded to the 400 block of East Jackson Street in reference to a report of shots fired. Officers immediately located the suspect running from the scene. Officers arrested the suspect, identified as Billy C. McDade, 62 of Carbondale. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound as a result of the incident and was taken by the Jackson County Ambulance Service to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment. The investigation revealed the incident was the result of a dispute between two known acquaintances. Officers charged McDade with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon. McDade was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail. The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
