CARBONDALE – On 9/19/22 at 7:34 a.m., City of Carbondale Police Department officers responded to the 700 block of South Lewis Lane in reference to a report of shots fired. Officers found several individuals actively fighting and separated the individuals without further incident. Officers learned one of the individuals involved in the fight fired a handgun and the officers later recovered firearm. During the course of the investigation, officers arrested Camille Sanders, age 30 of Carbondale for Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Aggravated Discharge of Firearm. After consulting with the Jackson County States Attorney’s Office, Sanders was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail. The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
