[ARCHIVED] Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon/Aggravated Battery Investigation

On 08-25-22 at approximately 12:12 a.m., City of Carbondale police officers responded to a large disturbance in progress in the 700 block of South Lewis Lane. During the course of the investigation, officers learned the disturbance occurred when the suspect, identified as Marshaun D. Williams, 29 of Marion, struck the victim with the firearm he had in his hand.  During the ensuing commotion, Williams fled the area.  The victim declined transportation to the emergency room and opted to seek out treatment for the injury at a later time.  Charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon are being sought for Williams who should be considered armed and dangerous.   Williams also has active warrants from Jackson County for Failure to Appear  Felony Drug Possession and Failure to Appear Criminal Damage to Property.  The investigation remains active and ongoing.
