[ARCHIVED] Aggravated Battery with a Firearm Investigation

On 03-20-22 at approximately 2:59 p.m. City of Carbondale police officers responded to the 500 block of East Main Street in reference to a report of shots fired.  Officers arrived and found a gunshot victim and immediately began administering lifesaving aid.  The Jackson County Ambulance Service responded and drove the victim to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  During the course of the investigation, officers learned the suspect fired several shots at the victim and then fled south on foot between the buildings in the 500 block of East Main on the south side of the roadway.   The suspect was described as a younger black male approximately 5’10” tall, wearing a red or a maroon hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.  The investigation is active and ongoing.
