On 01-27-22 at 11:00 a.m., City of Carbondale police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the driver travel at high rates of speed, weave in and out of traffic and show a willful and wonton disregard for the safety of others. Officers identified the driver as Immanuel N. Salley, age 20 of Carbondale, and determined his driver’s license expired in 2019. During the course of the investigation, officers located a firearm inside the vehicle. Officers arrested Salley for Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) Card, Reckless Driving and No Valid Driver’s License. After conferring with the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, Salley was released pending a court appearance.
