[ARCHIVED] Aggravated UUW/ Possession of Stolen Weapon/ Possession of Controlled Substance

On 12-05-21 at 9:30 p.m., City of Carbondale police officers responded to the 600 block of West Cherry Street in reference to reports of gunshots.  Officers located a white female, Mikalean K.D. Barr, 28 years old of Carbondale, in the 600 block of West Mill Street near a disabled vehicle. A witness saw her discard a bag prior to officers arriving.  Inside the bag, officers found a stolen gun and controlled substances.  Officers located a second stolen firearm in the disabled vehicle. The investigation revealed a male with Barr fired shots at other acquaintances and then fled the scene.  An occupied vehicle sustained two bullet holes as a result of the shooting.  There were no injuries reported. Barr was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.   Barr was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.  This incident is still being actively investigated.  Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the City of Carbondale Police Department at (618) 549-2121.
