FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CARBONDALE – The Carbondale Sustainability Commission, in coordination with the Climate Economy Education Inc. and the SI Cooperative Business Fund, is hosting a Resilience Fair on Saturday, August 28, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Carbondale Civic Center. Anyone who calls Carbondale home is invited to attend.
The Sustainability Commission has drafted a Sustainability Action Plan to lead Carbondale into the uncertain future of climate change in a way that prioritizes the environment, economics, and equity. The afternoon opens with an educational panel with speakers who will address those three topics, followed by small group discussion to elicit more ideas for the Action Plan. The third hour will cover opportunities available from resources beyond Carbondale; and the meeting concludes with a recognition and celebration of the many local businesses and organizations who exemplify aspects of resilience.
For more information, visit resiliencefairs.com (note the plural “fairs” – this will be the first of several around Southern Illinois) or contact Jane Cogie at 618-713-7024 or [email protected]. Organizations that want to have a table or otherwise participate are asked to register at resiliencefairs.com.
“Carbondale prides itself on providing its visitors, students, businesses and residents with a unique mix of edge and ease. It’s a cultural town, yet free of pretense, embracing the great outdoors as readily as urban sophistication. Here, we are open to new ideas, experiences and cultures, so you are encouraged to both express yourself and be yourself, in all ways. That’s Carbondale…All Ways Open… for family, fun, business, new ideas and a bright tomorrow.”
