On 12-21-20 at approximately 10:00 p.m., City of Carbondale Police Officers responded to the area of the 900 block of West Main Street in reference to a report of motor vehicle theft in progress. Officers learned the victim’s vehicle was left unlocked and running while the victim entered a business. The victim returned to find the vehicle had been stolen. During the course of the investigation, officers located the suspect vehicle, which was returned to the owner. Officers also located a key fob for a Kia brand vehicle that has yet to be identified. Officers arrested Jordan M. Ross, age 18 of Carbondale, and a juvenile male from Carbondale for motor vehicle theft. After consulting the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office about the incident, the suspects were released pending a court appearance.
