[ARCHIVED] Structure fire at 708 W Mill St. August 23, 2020 @ 9:07 PM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 

CARBONDALE - On Sunday, August 23, 2020, at 9:07 PM, the City of Carbondale Fire Department and City of Carbondale Police Department (CPD) responded to a report of a fire on the third floor at 708 W. Mill Street (Ivy Hall), for a structure fire. 

The Carbondale Fire Department successfully extinguished the fire while police officers assisted with evacuating tenants from the building. The investigation revealed that a resident, Deandre Pugh, 39 years old of Carbondale, intentionally set his apartment on fire while other occupants were present in the building.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. Deandre Pugh was arrested for Aggravated Arson and incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail. This investigation is currently active and ongoing.
