[ARCHIVED] Temporary Lane Reductions Announced for IL 13 in Downtown Carbondale

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CARBONDALE – The Illinois Department of Transportation notified the City of Carbondale of upcoming lane reductions at two railroad crossings located downtown. Beginning tonight (Monday, July 13) at 7:00 p.m., IL 13 (E. Walnut St) will be reduced to one lane near the S. Illinois Avenue intersection while crews make repairs to the CN/IC railroad crossing. IDOT expects the work to be complete by Wednesday, July 15, at 11:59 p.m.

Also, beginning tonight at 7:00 p.m., IL 13 (E. Main St) will be reduced to one lane at the CN/IC railroad crossing near the intersection with N. Illinois Avenue. IDOT says they expect this work to also be complete by Wednesday, July 15, at 11:59 p.m.

IDOT says traffic will be reduced to one lane through both crossings during the repairs. They encourage motorists to consider alternate routes to avoid the work area when feasible.
