The National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the Carbondale area effective until 8:15 pm. At 7:35 pm, severe thunderstorms were locatd along a line extending from 8 miles west of McLeansboro to near Murphysboro, moving east at 65 mph. Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts. Expect damage to roofs, siding and trees. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Listen to your NOAA weather radio for more information.
