On 03-27-20 at approximately 6:52 p.m., City of Carbondale Police Officers responded to the 700 block of South Lewis Lane in reference to a report of shots fired. The investigation revealed, there was a dispute between two groups of known acquaintances that resulted in exchanged gunfire. Officers found a vehicle in the area and a residence that were both damaged as result of the gunfire. There are not any reported injuries. Officers identified Deandrae L. Jones, 28 years old of Cairo, IL as one of the suspects involved. Jones was charged with Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon. He was incarcerated at the Jackson County Jail. Two other suspects involved are described as a black male 5’11” 165 pounds in his late twenties wearing a black shirt and grey pants and a black male in his twenties 5’10” with a slim build wearing a black sweatshirt with a hood, blue jeans with rips and black shoes. The investigation is currently active and ongoing.
