[ARCHIVED] Stalking

On 09-08-2019 at approximately 3:53 p.m., officers of the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to Macy’s department store at the University Mall in the 1200 block of East Main Street in reference to a report of a possible attempt to abduct a child. Officers learned the suspect followed the victims and an infant child inside the business and attempted to photograph or record them with a cell phone. During the course of the investigation, officers located the suspect, Argenis Hernandez of Chicago, and arrested him for Stalking and Disorderly Conduct. Hernandez was transported to the Jackson County Jail where he was incarcerated. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Carbondale Police Department at 618-457-3200. The investigation into this incident is continuing.
