The City of Carbondale Police Department has partnered with the Athletics Department of Southern Illinois University Carbondale this holiday season to collect NEW coats for boys and girls, ages 1-8 in Carbondale. The donated coats will benefit the children served by the Carbondale Police Department Community Christmas Store. New coats will be collected at all home men's and women's basketball games in November.
The Carbondale Police Department Community Christmas Store is an annual event conducted by the Carbondale Police Department's Victims' Advocate with assistance from the Victim's Advocates of Jackson County. The event provides gifts and toys at reduced costs to families of 100 children from at-risk or under-privileged families residing in Carbondale. Our goal this year is to also provide each of these children with a warm coat as we enter the winter months.
Coats for children will also be accepted for donation at the Carbondale Police Department, 501 S. Washington Street, and on campus at the SIUC Department of Public Safety, 1175 W. Washington Street, Trueblood Hall, as well as Lingle Hall 127. The deadline for donations will be December 10, 2018.
The City of Carbondale Police Department is dedicated to providing professional, quality police services to the residents of Carbondale, and to working with the community to provide services and programs that foster positive relationships between the police and the citizens, and which better the community in which we work and live.
