CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale Public Works Department would like to extend their appreciation to everyone who helped make the Fill-A-Public Works Food Drive a success during National Public Works Week, May 19-25.
We were able to collect 228 items in total. All of the donations will support the Victory Dream Center and Good Samaritan Ministries Food Pantry at University Baptist Church.Together, we are helping make our community stronger.

CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale Public Works Department is joining dozens of Public Works Departments from across Illinois to collect food and household goods to support local food pantries in need.
Carbondale's Food Drive will take place during National Public Works Week, May 19-25. Suggested donations include pasta, canned meats, sides, canned fruit, cereal, peanut butter, canned vegetables, toothpaste, cleaning products, diapers, shampoo, soap, toilet paper, paper towels and tissues. All donations will support the Victory Dream Center and Good Samaritan Ministries Food Pantry at University Baptist Church.
Donation bins will be set up during Public Works Week at the following locations:
- Carbondale City Hall, 200 S. Illinois Avenue
- Carbondale Fire Station #2, 401 N. Glenview Drive
- Carbondale Police Department, 501 S. Washington Street
- Neighborhood Co-op Grocery, 1815 W. Main Street
In addition, donations can be dropped off at the Boys & Girls Club, located at 250 N. Springer Street, on May 17. Kroger, located at 501 N. Giant City Road, will also be accepting donations from May 20-24.
