On 05-12-19 at approximately 2:00 a.m., officers with the City of Carbondale Police Department were monitoring a crowd of people outside the Hollywood Lounge in the 100 block of West Jackson Street when they observed a subject fire a handgun toward the crowd. Officers attempted to apprehend the subject and he ran from the area. Officers chased the subject and arrested him in the 300 block of East Jackson Street. The suspect is identified as Jermaine Ross, 21 of Carbondale. Ross is charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Resisting Arrest and Unlawful Use of Weapons by a Felon. Officers recovered a handgun at the scene of the incident. Ross is incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail. No one was injured during this incident. The investigation is currently active and ongoing.
