SIU Campus Japanese Garden

The Kumakura Japanese garden near the northwest end of Faner was constructed in 1998 and offers a quiet sanctuary for studying or a relaxing conversation. Students in advanced landscape design were responsible for the original designs of the Kumakura project, and each rock was placed thoughtfully. Different facets of the garden represent various geographical areas that include mountainous regions, marsh, and beach-like areas.
