Benefits Summary
Regular full-time employees of the City of Carbondale receive various excellent benefits. Below is a summary of the City's benefits package.
Holidays
The following are holidays observed by non-union personnel:
- New Year's Day
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- President's Day
- Good Friday
- Memorial Day
- Juneteenth
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Veteran's Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Day-After-Thanksgiving
- Christmas Eve (To be decided each year by City Council)
- Christmas Day
Each full-time regular employee also receives a birthday holiday to be used before their next birthday.
Vacation
All regular full-time employees accrue vacation per the following schedule:
- After one (1) year of full-time and continuous employment, an employee shall be granted eighty (80) hours of vacation.
- After five (5) years of full-time and continuous employment, an employee shall be granted one hundred twenty (120) hours of vacation.
- After ten (10) years of full-time and continuous employment, an employee shall be granted one hundred sixty (160) hours of vacation.
- After fifteen (15) years of full-time and continuous employment, an employee shall be granted one hundred eighty (180) hours of vacation.
- After twenty (20) years of full-time and continuous employment, an employee shall be granted two hundred (200) hours of vacation.
The maximum vacation leave accrual is 300 hours.
Sick Leave
All regular full-time employees accrue 12 days per year (8) hours per month. Sick leave may be accumulated indefinitely.
