The City of Carbondale received a grant from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) Section 319(h) Grant Program to install shoreline, gully, and streambank best management practices (BMPs) in the Cedar Lake/Big Muddy River watershed (HUC 0714010612) to reduce nonpoint source pollution to protect water quality.
The City of Carbondale is pursuing grant funding through the US Department of Transportation’s Neighborhood Access and Equity (NAE) Program for the Oak Street Extension Project.
This project would extend East Oak Street to Rendleman Road, providing a roadway across the natural barrier of Piles Fork Creek.
Southern Illinois Multimodal Station (SIMMS) is a project that has local and regional significance. The proposed SIMMS will serve a population that is currently underserved and demonstrates a greater need than the Carbondale population as a whole.
