Parking Permits

City Parking Permits can be purchased in the Revenue Office located in Carbondale City Hall, 200 S. Illinois Avenue.

Lot Permits (City Code 18:12:09)

  • Lot Permits are sold for individual lots
  • Lot Permits are not sold for lots 8, 14, and 24
  • Not valid at City meters located on the street
  • Vehicles with City Permits are still subject for ticketing if parked illegally

Amtrak Permits (City Code 18:12:09)

  • Kiosk parking - Daily up to 14 days
  • Valid for Amtrak lots (designated by signage)
  • For a long-term Parking Pass, contact the Parking Division 
  • Vehicles with City Permits are still subject to ticketing if parked illegally

Senior Permits (City Code 18:12:12)

  • $8 per year
  • Must be 60 years of age or older
  • Valid at any City meter or City lot
  • Not valid for overnight parking within Amtrak lots (designated by signage)
  • Vehicles with City Permits are still subject to ticketing if parked illegally
  • Valid for vehicles of the first division, and second division only when they are used to provide transportation to "senior citizens".

Downtown Employees (City Code 18:12:16)

  • $2.50 per month (max 6 months pre-purchase)
  • Proof of employment at a downtown business located within Tax Increment Financing District 1 or 2 required
  • Valid for passenger vehicles only
  • Valid at any City meter or City lot
  • Not valid for overnight parking within Amtrak lots
  • Vehicles with City Permits are still subject to ticketing if parked illegally

Resident Permits (City Code 18:12:17)

  • $25 per year
  • Valid for 365 days from the date of purchase
  • Must reside within Carbondale City limits
  • Proof of residency required
  • Valid for vehicles of the first division only
  • Valid at any City meter or City lot
  • Not valid for overnight parking within Amtrak lots
  • Vehicles with City Permits are still subject to ticketing if parked illegally
