Carbondale Census Self-Response Rate Below 50%

Census 2020

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale is at risk of losing millions in federal dollars to fund public services including transportation, education, social service programs, and city improvement projects such as road construction.

As of August 17, 2020, only 46.2% of households in Carbondale had responded to the 2020 Census survey. The City urges residents to respond before September 30, so we can continue to provide essential services for the community. For every resident that fails to respond, Carbondale will lose approximately $1,600 per person per year for the next ten years.

Completing the census takes less than five minutes, and all information provided is kept confidential. To respond, please visit https://my2020census.gov/

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, the US Census Bureau will be in Carbondale at various locations assisting residents with the census survey. Dates, times, and locations will be announced weekly on the City of Carbondale Government Facebook and Twitter pages.

For more information, please call Public Relations Officer Roni LeForge at 618-559-1939.
