Experience/Lateral Police Officer Program
If you have two or more years of post-probationary work experience as a police officer and meet the outlined qualifications, you are eligible for the Lateral Police Officer Program. Applications for experienced police officers are accepted on an on-going basis and are reviewed weekly. Oral interviews are determined by the hiring needs of the Department. Nine Mile Radius Rule
The City of Carbondale requires its employees in pay grades 1 to 7 to live within a nine mile radius from the center of Carbondale. City employees in pay grades 8 and 9 must reside within the Carbondale city limits. A residency nine mile radius map (PDF) is accessible for viewing. The nine mile radius is outlined in RED.
